Forensic consultant and expert witness: United States, Canada, and New Zealand: memory, hypnosis, eyewitness testimony, harmful techniques in psychotherapy.

Philosophy of Graduate Training: My commitment to students is unwavering—to train versatile and “complete” clinical scientists who are critical thinkers, excellent researchers, and effective evidence-based clinicians. Our laboratory is very active, and students are considered junior colleagues in every respect. Students have the freedom to initiate their own projects under my supervision as well as contribute to ongoing projects in the laboratory. Creativity and independence and the ability to work well with others are highly valued.

Current or upcoming projects: Experimentally induced dissociation, validating measures of ego dissolution states, transdiagnostic/transtheoretical models of dissociation, emotion regulation, hypnosis, mystical experiences and suggestion, trauma, and smoking cessation.
